Compliance Failures on Our Watch
The problem
Non-Compliance Is Not An Option

Globally, laws are tightening around disability access — for digital content, broadcast media, physical spaces, and public-facing services. Thousands of organisations are unknowingly at risk. Whether it's a streaming platform without audio description, a website that screen readers can't navigate, or a building without proper disability access — the liability is real, and growing. ADSASA exists to close that gap.

National Audio Description Policy

The NADP is the definitive legal and philosophical constitution of ADSASA — codifying media accessibility as an unconditional human right, not a discretionary service. Built on the principle of "Nothing About Us Without Us," it establishes that no AD output qualifies for certification unless blind and visually impaired individuals have actively shaped and verified it.

Human rights foundation — media access as an unconditional right, not an add-on
Global jurisdiction — binding across broadcasting, OTT, cinema, live events, and digital media
Three-tier certification — Bronze, Silver, and Gold compliance levels with defined criteria
Enforcement powers — refusal, correction orders, and revocation of certification status
International alignment — ITU, EBU, W3C/WAI harmonisation for cross-border deployment

This policy framework defines the governance and philosophy of ADSASA. For the exact technical rules, loudness metrics, and evidence metrics required for certification, please refer to the National Audio Description Standard (NADS) →

National Audio Description Standard

The NADS is the enforceable technical and editorial rulebook that governs how audio description is produced, mixed, verified, and delivered across all content types. It sets the mandatory baselines every certified provider must meet — from scripting philosophy and loudness targets to live AD, community verification, and the controlled use of AI in production.

Scripting & editorial standards — objectivity, tense, information priority hierarchy
Technical delivery — audio placement, mixing, and a loudness target of -24 LUFS ±2 LU
Three-tier community verification including blind & visually impaired consultation
Live AD standards for real-time synchronous delivery by accredited specialists
AI & automation governance — permitted only with full human review and validation

This standard outlines the enforceable operational rules. For the constitutional mandate, governance structures, and enforcement policies under which these rules are applied, please refer to the National Audio Description Policy (NADP) →
